Cracking WalMart & DiSa’s Point of Sale Activation v1 – Intel Nextbooks

This crack is a lot simpler than that of v2, requiring only access to an unrooted file system, and access to the internet, specifically Crack Station.

Simply plug the Intel version of your Nextbook Ares 10a into any PC computer, and gain simple access to the basic Android file system.

Go into the Android folder on the tablet and look for a file called disa with no file type attachment. Open this file in a text editor.

At first it will look like gibberish, but if you look closely, there are 32 bytes that continuously repeat throughout the nonsense. Copy this hashtag and run it through Crack Station. This should give you a four digit PIN that will allow full and total activation of the Nextbook without any of the fun ADB functions required for v2. This is an actual activation, so even if you do a factory reset you won’t have to redo the crack again, again, unlike v2.

Cracking WalMart & DiSa’s Point of Sale Activation v2

This is a simple crack for beginners and anyone wanting to piss off WalMart a little bit. Since this crack was developed over a year ago, nothing has been done that can make it so the PoSA PIN protection cannot be removed.

What you will need:

-OTG Cable -USB Keyboard -A Computer with the Android Debug Line installed -Patience

We’re starting out with the assumption that the user is currently at the PIN entry page that gives the required activation for Nextbook and Huawei tablets sold at Wally World. There is a way around this PIN entry and activation that adds tons of bloatware and spyware that you probably want nothing to do with upon completion.

The first step is to plug your USB keyboard into the OTG cable and attach the keyboard to the tablet via the USB port. Now, watch as something interesting happens when you press ESC over and over again without stopping. The PIN page, if only for a moment, drops out of existence. This ‘lag pocket’ is going to allow us to gain access to the Android system without bothering to go through the PoSA/WalMart installation process.

When you get a small gap between the page popping in and out of existence, you can pull down the top menu and hit the Settings button, giving you almost full access to the system. From here, all you have to do is go to ‘Software Settings’ and tap ‘Build Number’ seven times until Developer Options is opened up. Once in Dev Ops, activate USB debugging and change the file transfer type to MTP. Now, you may unplug the keyboard and plug the tablet into your computer with the ADB installed.

You’ll be asked, over the PIN screen, if you want the computer to have system access. You should press ‘Yes’ here. In the ADB you should type in the following commands:

adb devices

adb shell

pm uninstall –user 0 com.android.yfdisa

or on some systems:

pm uninstall –user 0 com.yfdisa.android

or on yet more systems:

pm uninstall –user 0 com.example.weibu.disa

pm uninstall –user 0 com.weibu.disa.services

exit

This set of commands will make the PIN page uninstall and completely open up the Android system to your whims and absolute control over the machine with no bloat/spyware installed and a minimal number of GApps installed; Just enough to make the Play Store and Chrome work. If you can’t figure out through trial and error, get an APK of Application Inspector by UBQSoft and find what the process is named in the Application list.

This hack has to be repeated if a full system reset is performed, but it takes so little time to enact that it’s hardly worth mentioning.

Enjoy.

UPDATE AND EDIT:
DiSa didn't hire anyone who knows anything about math to fight against one guy in a home office's meager work. In fact, after the last crack stopped them shipping Nextbook Ares 10a for an entire year, finally shipping with the December 2018 update, they assumed their stupid little fix would stop me.
They became arrogant. There was no algorithm making breaking through harder with each reset. Nothing like that at all. I just wasn't hitting buttons on my keyboard fast enough.

WalMart and DiSa's PoSA PIN security system was cracked, beaten, and the entire process published in under 13 hours after purchasing the test tablet.
2 months and 13 hours with the months not counting due to hardware scarcity.
So, eat a dick DiSa and Wally World. Your arrogance has cost you another year of development. Stop concentrating on eliminating lag pockets and make something that's actually impressive. You're multi-billion dollar companies.

At least I stopped Target and BestBuy from ever using your god awful software and removed half its function for the WalMart roll out.
Keep bringing it. I'll keep screwing your crappy program.
