Changing your VHOST on sinister's IRC nettwork - Pikami - 01-02-2019 [Introduction]
Sinister is moving it's primary communication from Discrap to IRCThis tutorial is going to show you how you can change your vhost [Why should you change your vhost]
In traditional sense irc users used vhosts to hide their IP addresses, you can still see this in action on the freenode irc nettwork![]() ^ This is a user without a vhost, anyone can see his IP address (This may or may not be my real IP, be gentle) ![]() ^ This is a user that has their vhost set to `unaffiliated/pikami`, in this case nobody but the network operators can see their IP address On Sinister's network users won't have this problem because the server masks user's IP addresses, example: ![]() [So why are we doing this again?]
To keep the traditions and because vhosts look awesome, look at this:![]() ^ This is so hot! [Preconditions]
Your IRC nick must be registered with NickServ[Choosing a vhost]
Just pick something that you like but remember it must have a dot in it.Oh and there's this quote from Oni: Quote:If someone refers to other sites, is racist, or refers to kiddy activity they'll be banned. [The process]
[Final notes]
Vhosts are a nice way to express yourself and get rid of that awful looking `F8F8606E.D106C848.26B0859.IP` or `Clk-75D65E7B.irccloud.com` and replace with something sexy like `pikami.org` (please don't use my domains as your vhosts, thankyou)[Source links]

RE: Changing your VHOST on sinister's IRC nettwork - Cr3aTor - 01-03-2019 Great initiative, since we're moving to IRC and maybe not all of us are familiar with it. |
