Gatwick Airport (London) shutdown following drone sightings - Jiggly - 12-22-2018

Gatwick reopens after latest drone sighting causes more disruption

Code:
Passengers faced further disruption at Gatwick airport on Friday evening after another sighting of a drone led to planes again being grounded for a brief period Gatwick had initially reopened on Friday morning following almost 36 hours of closure after multiple drone sightings around the UK’s second biggest airport. Police said they were investigating “persons of interest” in their efforts to identify who had been operating the drone or drones. About 160 of 837 scheduled flights were cancelled, but the majority of the 126,000 passengers booked to fly from the airport got away as planned, albeit with slight delays, after the runway reopened just before 6am.

Police and the military considered shooting them down, but have decided not to so far. As far as I'm aware, they still haven't tracked down who is responsible.

Yeah I won't lie I did actually find this quite funny but I know that a lot of people are going home or to see family for Christmas so they could have picked a better time to mess around.

But it does look as if they've been caught https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-46657505

I do hope they Identify and apprehend those responsible.

Aside from the Inconvenience caused by way of flight disruptions, colliding with the drone(s) puts lives at risk.

Have you heard the latest? Apparently it might be a police drone now and the original people arrested have been released without charge!

Its honestly quite funny but this happens all the time, you can't forget you're in restricted air space.
But hey, who knows.
