In simple terms, you harness the bandwidth of ex-amount of systems and perform a direct attack against your target.
By making millions of requests per second, you're flooding their site, ultimately crashing It.

Do not confuse this with a "DoS" attack.
A DDoS Is executed via a number of compromised devices (botnet), and you're using the availability of their bandwidth to take down your target.

Gotta inject tons of devices with your bot script, making each device send data to the same target.
