I am British, but I am allergic to spending lots of money on phones and have never purchased a contract like that in my life. I wish I could advise you, but I'm clueless about xmas phone deals. I would be curious about Jan sales though.

It's understandable, you're not expected to know and advise on everything relative to the UK.

I also don't deal with phone contracts. I have a prepaid cell phone with all the perks (If not better) than those on a plan. No commitment, cancel at any time.

I use what's known as pay as you go. I purchase a bundle deal that can recur each month, or I can choose not to continue it, or I can purchase a totally different deal. This doesn't include the cost of the phone, but the service I use does offer monthly payments for new phones (with the data/calls/texts still pay as you go).

I live near the UK, and we have similar deals here (currency is also very similar). I'd personally avoid 2 year phone contracts but that's just me. It seems a fair deal, not the best but definitely not the worst.

Sounds like a decent deal, though I feel the same about 2 year contracts. Few people ever still want to be in them 2 years on.

This sounds very similar to what I currently have- a prepaid plan.

I can choose to terminate It at any point and select another plan. The good part about mine, Is that provided I top It up prior to the end of the billing cycle each month, I don't lose the quota and It keeps building with each payment every month. For example, If It begins with10GB of data, after 8 months It'll be at 80GB (10GB x 8 months) and so forth.

That's interesting. I believe prepaid plans are the closest thing to our pay as you go, but I'm aware there are differences. It's nice to have flexibility to only pay 5GBP one month for a small package or 25GBP if I need the extra gigs.
