Yesterday a man opened fire at a bar in Southern California.

Quote:A gunman opened fire overnight in a Southern California bar and country music venue. The Ventura County sheriff said the bar was crowded with more than 100 people, many of them college students.
The gunman, identified by police as Ian David Long, 28, killed 12 people, including a sheriff's sergeant who responded to the gunfire. Police later found the shooter dead inside the bar, possibly from a self-inflicted wound.

Quote:The rampage took place at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, about 40 miles northwest of Los Angeles. Authorities don't yet have a motive for the shooting.
"There was just young people, like young, 18, 19, 20, just having a great time," said a step-father who was at the bar with his step-son. "And this maniac came in and started shooting at people for no reason at all.

I'm surprised there weren't more fatalities.

It's a shame he took the easy way out, by taking his own life. He deserved to suffer and get bashed In prison.

This. Shame things like this keep happening in the United States as well as every where else. Good ole 'merica protects ourselves from international terrorism but we don't stand a chance against domestic stuff.

God bless the USA.

Seriously though the thing about the United States is that just like the rest, we will get through this. Condolences to the families and friends affected and to any still hospitalized.

Getting through it isn't enough. This is an issue which needs more attention and needs to be solved.

I'm a firm believer that everything happens due to some reason that triggers a response.

This guy didn't just wake up, felt bored and thought he'd kill a few people. Something/someone probably pushed him to the edge and unfortunately, resulted In Innocent loss of life.

Not to spark a discussion, but do you guys feel like stricter gun control could've prevented this?

Potentially. However stricter gun laws will most definitely reduce events such as this occurring.

In my opinion, making gun laws more strict wouldn't solve the issues. Criminals can still find a way to obtain a gun.

For you to do something this disastrous, it's because (as someone previously stated) you were pushed to these lengths. Considering this, I'm sure he would go through all the efforts required to acquire the gun, so gun control wouldn't really stop events like these. Though, it could tighten & decrease gun circulation.
