For example, Arch Linux has the "pacman" command, all Debian-based distributions have the "apt" command, etc. I did notice this with my different Linux distros. That's where I need to refresh my usage. So you've disabled the Windows Update Service (exactly as per my above post), applied the edit via the Group Policy Editor and It still updates? Also, set your Internet connection to "Metered connection" by navigating as follows: (1). Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks. (2). Then go to: Wi-Fi network > Properties > (turn on) Set as metered connection. This does not limit your Internet connectivity, but more so gives the Impression that you have "limited" resources to update/download, hence Windows Updates takes this as such and does not allow the updates to Install. In the event all the above fail (which I'm very confident they won't), hit the Registry and disable Windows Updates as follows. * In the Run menu, enter regedit * Navigate to this path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows * Right-click the Windows folder and select New > Key * Name the key (you've just created) as AU * Right-click the AU key and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value * Give the key the name of AUOptions * Lastly, double-click the AUOptions key and give It a value of 2 Given the Registry Is a critical part of the OS, I strongly suggest creating a backup by using It's "Export" feature. |
