I do not think it is the only reason you prefer living in an apartment. I imagine how much money people spend on maintaining a house and keep their backyard clean and accurate. It also needs a lot of time if you are going to deal with that by yourself. Nevertheless, I wish I lived in a house with a big and sunny living room. I would put my vintage rugs from the DorisLeslieBlau gallery on the floor. And beautiful paintings from some famous artists will decorate my walls.

Honestly wouldn't buy more room than you need. Between costs and maintenance, having just a few extra feet to walk around in is not really worth it imho. People buy large and then later regret it and this happens often. Then later in life, they decide they got smart and want to downsize so they are looking for a place all over again.

If you want a place where to live, a house would be a better idea, but if you are looking for making investments in real estate, you would better think more about apartments. First of all, apartments are a good passive income, because there are a lot of people that will want to rent them. Houses are also good, but it is harder to find people that will rent them. The only house I bought is from Lumina, and they are situated in good areas near green zones so new families are looking for such places to live, this is why I easily found rentals for them.

Depends where you live, I would prefer living in a house outside the city, but if you have a job, then imo apartament is better because it is located in the city

I prefer to stay in an apartment due to the low cost of maintenance.  Buying a house in the city is out of bounds for me.  Post retirement, I plan to buy a house in the countryside so that I can pursue my hobby of gardening as well keep a few pets.  Weekend barbeque parties would also be on my list.

My choice will most certainly be a house. A house with a lot of free space outside so that I can landscape to my liking. I can have my own garden, a swimming pool and of course not worry about sharing with public. From hygiene point of view, I prefer my own pool.

I personally believe that if you're going to invest long term, always a house. I know people(like family or friends) who have been renting the same apartment for $800 a month for the past 15+ years. With those payments, you could easily pay off the mortgage to a house

I certainly agree, rent Is a 100% loss to the renter.

Save a deposit and get a mortgage- the house/apartment will one day be your own.

I've been telling my girlfriend that when we finally get a place, I want to put a deposit down into a house and just pay off the mortgage.

It's the best decision you can make.

You're set for life when you own your home and If times get tough with living expenses, you can live off bread and butter (so to speak). Moreover, Its value will Inevitably keep Increasing.
