RE: What is your favorite Operating System? - BiscuitEdi - 03-23-2016 So many people still using win7. Can't wait 'till support ends. Using win 10 atm. RE: What is your favorite Operating System? - BORW3 - 03-25-2016 Hmmm, something tells me if Windows7 support ends, windows will die 100% for sure, people will start jumping to Linux OSs and MAC's maybe even Remix OS by then would be a better alterantive. Just because support ends, It doesn't render the OS useless. Unless you're reliant on a particular support product, the OS Is still well and truly functional, just without It's security patches, updates and obviously support for It's products and services. Doubt it. Did that happen when XP support died? Nope. Something with more than 86% market share doesn't just *die*. Support for Windows XP ended a while ago and 11% of the market still uses it. At least according to https://www.netmarketshare.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?qprid=10&qpcustomd=0 it certainly would be cool to see everyone jump to Linux and alternate OS', but it just won't happen. Microsoft has gained wayyyy too good of a foothold in the market for that to be even an inlking of a possibility in the near future. I'm jumping to Linux once game support becomes the norm, and it's uncommon to find a game that doesn't work with Linux. You can Dual Boot, USB Boot, or VM another OS to use, so you have one for Gaming and one for alternative use RE: What is your favorite Operating System? - Nyx - 04-01-2016 (04-01-2016, 02:12 PM)SubZ3r0 Wrote: Arch Linux is my favorite Operating System Yeah that's true, but usually when I'm on my PC I game for a bit, take a break and browse the web and then play some more games after a bit. It'd be really inconvenient to have to switch OSes between each little break. It'd be really inconvenient to have to switch OSes between each little break. That's where a Virtual Machine would come in handy. You can have a Windows OS on a VM and download Steam on it, Play games on the VM, then when you want to break, minimize the VM and use your default OS which you can set to linux. OR vice versa; Have LINUX on a VirtualMachine and game on your main Windows OS. I feel like that'd be the best solution given your circumstances. I recommend Oracle's VirtualBox: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads RE: What is your favorite Operating System? - Skryptec - 04-01-2016 Linux all the way buddy! Or Windows. |
