RE: Does A God Exist? - Dean Winchester - 04-22-2013 Well, I do believe in God, considering that I am serious when it comes to religion. RE: Does A God Exist? - Hezvex - 04-22-2013 I do believe in God BUT I don't think it will ever be confirmed if there is a real God or not. Bring along proof or leave. @w00t You're right, but even though Gravity is only a theory, it's still here. It being a theory doesn't mean it exists, but as I stated before, going back to the religious conversation, it's something, while religions have nothing. So I'll give a few quotes/verses that might be able to be used as proof. The religion I"ll get this proof from is Islam. And more specifically the Sunni Qur'an, hadith, and sunah. Now, in the Quran it describes the solar system as balls of gas, and rocks and planets orbiting. This, obviously isn't the exact quote, but its similar to what its describing. Now tell me, how could something written more than 1400 years ago possibly have this information? My second quote, "And the Earth, after that, He made it egg-shaped." As a man of science you should already know what this means. Third quote, "... and (God) has sent down water from the sky. With it, We have produced diverse pairs of plants (Taha, 20: 53)." This in a way is saying that god created different sexed plants. A fact which wasn't discovered until recently. Fourth quote, "O You jinn and men, if you can penetrate zones of the heavens and the Earth, then penetrate! You will never penetrate them except with (the) power (of science)." Here you can see the idea of flying being mentioned..... 1400 years ago. I hope you took the time to look and think about this post. >Nothing I'm not sure about other religions, but Islam, has MUCH more than nothing. Each religion has particular scriptures discussing the future. Some of the predictions have become true, while others have yet to become true. I would hardly say religions have nothing, simply because so many people follow them. Like the scientists promoting atheism, there are many famous theists. As religion stands, you are unlikely to get solid proof. The people believing in a particular religion aren't worried about solid proof. Again, if you're asking for proof, you are either going to get wishywashy quotes of scriptures or a response asking you for proof. I'd urge you to find some magical proof, or leave as well. RE: Does A God Exist? - Nil - 04-23-2013 Saying religion is probably correct because of all the followers is a logical fallacy. But I understand, it's hard to get logic involved when discussing your FAITH. You're still unable to know what I'm saying. I KNOW you can't have 100% prove. Neither side can. Religions don't have anything because there is nothing. People believing in a God doesn't mean he exists, if that's what you're trying to say. You still have not even the slightest amount of proof and / or any piece of evidence that would lead to the discovery of a God. People sculpting and writing books doesn't mean anything. RE: Does A God Exist? - w00t - 04-23-2013 All scientists have is measurements taken with machines other scientists built. I'm pretty pro-science, I don't let my opinion enter the fray. Neither side can conclusively prove or disprove the existence of one or multiple deities. Which is exactly what I'm saying, except that Atheists at least have that 0.1% |
