When people get payed to work on it, this way they will get more motivation to work on it. I think if there was a kickstarter or something for a really promising project it would get funded in no time. I would like to see that, but IIRC there were some kickstarters already that failed.(Don't pin me on that though) RE: Linux VS Windows - L0aD1nG - 06-20-2014 (06-20-2014, 12:44 PM)Plexcon Wrote:(06-20-2014, 12:36 PM)L0aD1nG Wrote: Thats something that everyone who uses linux i think would like to happen...but i dont think will ever happen  If they can get paid and stick to the RULES OF FREEDOM why not man...i would even donate for something like that...maybe some day it will happen :/ RE: Linux VS Windows - chmod - 06-20-2014 (06-20-2014, 12:36 PM)L0aD1nG Wrote:(06-20-2014, 12:32 PM)Plexcon Wrote:(06-20-2014, 12:06 PM)erpicci Wrote:Very true indeed yes, But then the question is for me why isn't there a OS that is REALLY ready for a desktop environment? The reason being for me the main selling point is choice, if you don't like how Ubuntu (for example) does things use something else. Yes a lot of distro's fail but that's not the point, the point is that anyone (yes even me or you) could one day decide you know what I don't like something these distro's do and download the source code and build our own version. We can then take this version 'our' distro and freely share it with anyone who wants it, and in turn they are free to modify and improve it any way they see fit. Having one version of Linux takes away from this mentality IMO and I think that would be a bad thing. Well man i will agree with you..but what if it happens and everything is so perfect!? You don't have the curiosity to check what they can produce all together? Also ofc if that happen and then they discard the right of every single developer to make his own OS ofc that isnt STICK WITH THE RULES OF LINUX FREEDOM as i mentioned on my first post that i would like this to happen as long as they STICK TO THE RULES OF LINUX FREEDOM. But that's exactly my point as long as the freedoms of Linux exist (and so they should) there will never be a single distro people will naturally fall out and go off and start a new distro. Besides with all of the speciality distro's out there there's no way it would be practical to have one that tries to do everything, it makes much more sense to have lots of distro's that do a specific thing well rather than one that's mediocre (at best) at everything it will end up just another generic OS like Windows or Mac OSX, and that's not a direction I would like to see Linux take. YOU SIR HAVE TOTALLY A POINT...i am with you!! OFC if its about to end up like shitty corporations, probably thats the worst idea. Also your speech its totally based on logical equations about how people think, how things go on with every os special things etc etc...so i cant do nothing more to TOTALLY AGREE! Lets stay like this then! Hahaha :epic: (talking like that would happen tommorow lol) :epic: RE: Linux VS Windows - BORW3 - 06-21-2014 Hehehe, my theory: If we paid to buy Ubuntu, or kali or any other free linux distro here is how we would be. "Wow, this distro is good, I got value for my money, nice, I love Ubuntu" //Just because you paid for it like Mac users. "Man, this kali distro was so expensive, must be better than Mac OS which is cheaper compared" //Most value quality with price range, don't lie...you know yourselves. "Playing pacman on Ubuntu, WOWOWOWO!!!! Look at the 2d graphics on this, beats 2d pacman on windows anyday!!" //Again money factor. Overall. Reason why Windows and MacOs became "COOL" world wide is because they weren't free. They idiots of 1992 thaught price ment quality and thats how this two ended up being the standards that 90% of the world thinks is the standards for an OS RE: Linux VS Windows - TwitchSwiss - 06-23-2014 Linux, but Windows is my first love haha RE: Linux VS Windows - Geryalb86 - 06-28-2014 I think Windows is much more easier to use for lazy people, like me. For a better handy work and professional, it is better to work on Linux! |
