Years ago, I did the mistake of buying an unsupported modem and they said "we can't help you, contact the manufacturer".

No, everything that has to do with internet is provided by my ISP, my modem and everything was provided by them. What I meant was that they don't allow us to customize it a lot.

All the more reason they should handle the Issue on their end, and configure It on your side thereafter.

In essence, you're paying for a service they're failing to provide. How they can justify themselves Is beyond comprehension.

They don't need to justify themselves since I live in a socialist country and they're the only ISP so they get large amounts of government support, so no one can compete with them.

Database leak? Seems like someone is going to alot of trouble and expending alot of resources to DDoS some rando.
Depending on your ISP, a separate modem may not help. Some ISPs FORCE you to use their equipment, or expensive compatible ones. If someone hasn't already mentioned this, sometimes you can release your IP by powering your modem off for 24 hours.

Mind replying to my questions, l33t?

I was referring to justifying themselves In terms of not able to assist you.

All they're doing Is providing excuses, and throwing everything at the bottom of the "too hard basket".

RE: getting DDoSed - l33t - 08-09-2018

Thanks for the help everyone but I've concluded that getting a new modem really is the only way of getting a new IP since my ISP is useless.
I appreciate all the answers that tried to help

Good move.

It'll set you back ex-amount of dollars but the main thing Is, the Issue will be solved.
No more headaches.

Yeah, if it wasn't for some stupid database leak then this wouldn't happen in the first place, companies should take their security much more serious.

Unfortunately they don't.

My latest breach clearly demonstrates the lack of security, namely (amongst many other Issues) storing passwords In plain text.

If In the hands of someone with malicious Intent, there's no telling the magnitude of subsequent losses both on a personal and corporate level.

It makes you think they're just waiting for something to go wrong before they do anything about it.
