What's so cracked up about it anyway?
It's pretty well done, animation is nice, variety in characters. Plus you get a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. I can't quite put my finger on why I like it so much but I just do xD
Want to give a basic synopsis, or should I just google it?
Kids, like, a total Otaku and then gets blasted into another world with a special (tormenting) power. He has to find his way around this fantasy place and somehow save this chick he really likes.

The animation style and the way the story is told is a fuckton darker then what I described. I just tend to make light of situations
Have to admit, though, I almost threw my remote at the TV from frustration one time.

My brother and I watch it all the time and at this point my fam just "smh's" their way to the couch and secretly enjoy the show too
Don't usually put anything other than action/adventure on the tv tho. too risky and awkward.

I hardly use the TV in my room because of people hearing what I watch. Hell, I don't even want to watch anything in my house without headphones.

MAL doesn't quite do it justice but gives you an idea of what happens early on.
When Subaru Natsuki leaves the convenience store, the last thing he expects is to be wrenched from his everyday life and dropped into a fantasy world. Things aren't looking good for the bewildered teenager, however: not long after his arrival, he is attacked by some thugs; armed with only a bag of groceries and a now useless cell phone, he is quickly beaten to a pulp. Fortunately, a mysterious beauty named Satella, in hot pursuit after the one who stole her insignia, happens upon Subaru and saves him. In order to thank the honest and kindhearted girl, Subaru offers to help in her search, and later that night, he even finds the whereabouts of that which she seeks. But unbeknownst to them, a much darker force stalks the pair from the shadows, and just minutes after locating the insignia, Subaru and Satella are brutally murdered.
However, Subaru immediately reawakens to a familiar scene—confronted by the same group of thugs, meeting Satella all over again—the enigma deepens as history inexplicably repeats itself.
