Um, ever heard of rootkits?
*nix has a lot of repos and packages, but definitely not as much as Windows. Not really an issue though when the software quality is much higher and /most/ Windows software is available to run via an emulator like WINE.

A lot of people have this thing against Windows 8, I don't find it that bad tbh. My pc is set to boot to desktop, and I installed a custom start menu. I haven't seen the weird metro screen since I first bought this. W8s lighter than W7, boots faster, has a few more improvements, etc.
Almost all games/programs are fine on W8, I've only had a problem with Borderlands 2 which took me a minute to patch and fix. It's a bit of a hassle customizing it to act like earlier versions of windows though, so IMO I'd rather have a windows 7. Nothing against w8 though

I don't like windows 8, I downgraded to windows 7 since it still remain as my preferred OS among windows platform. XP was great during it's time, I wouldn't mind going back to it but since support is nearly being cut-off it is best to stick with windows 7 while supports last.

Windows 7 is now my favorite...Windows XP still great. As far as Window 8 goes...really frustrating and I am still getting used to it.
