Thank you all for contributing to this thread.

It's certainly somewhat of a big step from Windows.

If and when you get a moment, I'd like to read your thoughts as a first-time user of Linux.

I've used ubuntu for a couple minutes off a live usb. I did it for fun, and I hated it instantly (lol Biggrin Smile )

Goodness, I can really relate to your experience.

I did and experience the same many years ago, and then Installed BackTrack and loved It. Although BT has been discontinued for a number of years, I still have a copy.

Generally speaking, when you force yourself to utilize or do something, It's (forcing) an Indicator that It may not be right for you.

If you do happen to like Ununtu after a week, I'll gladly stand corrected.

Please do, I'm curious as to how quick you can adapt to the transition.

No rush, though.

I would love to do the same, but I don't mind an odd game or two of video games. I know you can play video games on Linux, dosen't mean you should.

I did dual-boot for a while, but of course I just sided with Windows because it's really familiar. But, I think I may try it again--my Networking class has got me hooked again.

Tell us how it goes! Linux is great, I'm sure you're love it.

Start off with Arch so you learn the entirety of the system before even trying to use the UI. He'll be better off for it.
