As a general example, you may have been negatively repped by a few members who registered as trolls and simply -repped for no reason. The same applies to banned members.
Positive reps may have also been given under false pretenses. By resetting It and given the community Is more so close-knit now than what It was 4 years ago, reps are a better and more accurate representation of a member's caliber.
Correct me If I'm wrong, but they're just my views of how I see and understand It.

I didn't get my rep award until I reached 180.
I didn't even realise there was a rep award. 2 resets ago I had over 100 rep but I think the award was made long after that.

I realized at 150, I've only looked at the entire list of awards twice or so.
