But yes, thats true, theres also new companies which are releasing live communication where coaches give live sessions on a bike machine or a treadmill right in your home, perhaps live video or audio (im not sure about that) but it does come in the domain of violation of privacy but thats the concent given when you buy the product.
But for Adidas, where would they collect fitness data?

I believe It's more so (fitness) data storage, namely the nature of It.
For Instance (and just an example), for a user to be declared fit to use a particular equipment, a few health records may be requested and stored which can contain personal Information.

I'm not sure whether they've been compromised prior to this, but It was certainly a significant breach- particularly for a company on this scale.
