And even though there is a massive issue with Windows right now with the NSA. I still use Windows 10 because fuck it who cares. Fairly expensive solution, yes, but it works. As for OS, I swap between (multiple times a day) Windows 10 macOS 10.12 ArchLinux RE: Which OS do you use? - Esoterith - 04-18-2017 (04-18-2017, 02:21 AM)phyrrus9 Wrote:(04-18-2017, 12:52 AM)Zenith Wrote: And even though there is a massive issue with Windows right now with the NSA I hate apple 100% RE: Which OS do you use? - Hoss - 04-18-2017 This is something I've recently changed. I used to use Linux for EVERYTHING and run a Windows 10 VM for the Windows stuff. However, after about 10 years of using Linux on my daily drivers in one way or another, I've finally switched to running Windows 10 on the base machine and using Docker instances when I need something like Vi, clang, etc. Why? I have a motto, "Life doesn't have to be difficult". Linux was making my life more difficult than it had to be for the scenarios with which I was involved. The lack of drivers for certain pieces of hardware, low performance/buggy gfx drivers, config-hell, etc. I realized I wasn't really gaining anything from using Linux, I was just using it because when I was 9 or 10 I decided it would be cool and I've just been using it ever since. My motto is also the reason I stopped using C++ (I probably ranted about C++ somewhere on the forum). I think a lot of people in the tech field should really take a moment, sit, and THINK about WHY they use the technologies they use and if something else would better serve them. Your reason shouldn't be. "well all these people are using this technology so obviously it's the best". What is best is completely relative to you and your situation, choose what makes you productive, choose what wastes the least amount of your time. Stop. Learn. Think. Change. Repeat. |
