If you look into a religion where 2 people ate Christians they could have a complete different view.  This Is why peace is never achieveable it is down to people to change but it is in most people nature or some nature to not accept certain things.

The word "Satanists" is something the Catholic Church and later Christianity dubbed everyone who don't believe in their religion. This practice and ideal died out decades ago, but its damage is still visible in today's people. Religion holds a great deal of power, and they are unaware of the affects they have on the world, causing decade long suffering and problems. Look through the history of religion, The Crusades, The Inquisition  and every other so called "holy battle" in their name. This practice has also dimmed down, as people have started to change their minds and become more opened minded. But it is almost given fact that history will repeat itself, and there are people who still tries to get said practices into reality again.

Religion alone is a major cause of war, suffering and hatred. Denying that is just about as reasonable as denying that cancer is bad. For every religious person I have met that state that they believe in God but don't mind if others do, I meet about 100 who doesn't. These are the people who try to "push" their ideals unto others, which is a cause of war and suffering in modern society. If religion wasn't there, then certainly something else would have taken it's place, but at least then we'd be able to resolve one problem, them move to the next to resolve that. We've kept religion for thousands of years, trying to fix and control it, all ending in catastrophe

We've come to the point in time where people start to realize that God and religion isn't cutting it anymore, it isn't a viable option of blame or help anymore. Because of that, people aren't burned alive, massacred for being a different race and aren't stoned to death for being assumed witches. Certainly there are extremists in the world yet, and those are a newer problem as they distance themselves from religion, but they also use it to justify their actions. Logically speaking, if they lacked religion, they'd need something else to blame or use to justify their actions. Logically they'd have a twisted or different side of a story to tell, which seems like a far better way of coming to a comprise. (As those who act in the name of God, often do so because they are displeased with something and want a change, but state that their reason is God.)

Who'd you listen to? The man who killed 100 people and said it was in the name of God or the man who said he did it because these 100 people stole from and caused suffering to other people?

I'd listen to the 2nd person.

But yeah. religion is one big cause for war, however it's obviously not the only cause, and we can't really compare it to other wars, as they say that 'History is written by the winners' so culprits are never clearly shown without deception, so it's likely we'll never know how much religion has an impact on peace.

freedom from disturbance; tranquillity.

Peace within ourselves, family and friends; yes.
However the length of such "peace" is undefined.

However universally; no.
Humans are beings consisting of great emotion thus people tend to dispute A LOT.
