RE: Maxx's Anti-Dox Handbook - kasakari - 04-29-2014 Thank you Maxx for the awesome read. The list of sites definitely added several new ones for future reference. RE: Maxx's Anti-Dox Handbook - Spirit - 04-30-2014 Thanks for the feedback, @kasakari! Did you learn anything new? If so, would you mind sharing what you learned with us? I'm glad that you found the list of resources useful. RE: Maxx's Anti-Dox Handbook - Dionaea - 04-30-2014 (04-28-2014, 05:15 PM)Maxx Wrote: Thanks for the feedback, @Dionaea! Oh, well it wasn't half as bad as expected. I have very few things to clear up thanks to my many nicknames and emails over the years. Thankfully when I was a teen I didn't use my real name everywhere and I liked getting lots of new emails. (edit) One question? For my real name, what sort of websites should I get to show in my google results? As a computer "professional", what kinds of results would you want to show when someeone googles your real name? If you're trying to search for yourself, I would recommend that you check sites like Pastebin, Doxbin, Social Media (eg. Facebook, Twitter), Pipl, and so on. Now if you're trying to get certain websites to show up for your name to throw people off by using fake information, just make a bunch of fake Facebook/MeetMe/Twitter/Ask.fm/Qooh.me/Spring.me accounts that include similar information to yours, but wrong. Basically make a ton of aliases that just kind of anchor down those exact search results. It's good to do this with your aliases/handles as well (eg. Dionaea) It also helps for finding things if you limit your searches by using Google operators like inurl:www.website.here "My Name". It really narrows down the search results. Now if you ever want to know if someone has just suddenly doxed you, I would recommend setting up some Google Alerts. What this will do is notify you whenever a webpage with your information is added to Google's index (or whatever you set your alert to alert you with). In other words, this would just tell you if someone has posted your dox on Pastebin or something, and you can take the appropriate steps to deal with it. If you're interested in counter-doxing using Google Alerts, I made a thread all about it here: http://www.hackcommunity.com/Thread-Tutorial-Counter-Doxing-Using-Google-Alerts I hope I answered your question properly. If there's any confusion then let me know!

A couple of IT/computer/programming related websites that are respectable. But I don't know which websites are the best to use for this purpose and I was wondering if you know of any. RE: Maxx's Anti-Dox Handbook - Deque - 04-30-2014 @Maxx Have you thought about making a PDF paper out of it? I think it is worth it. @Dionaea For developing github is a respected site to make your open source projects publicly available. Career sites liked Linkedin are a good choice if you want headhunters to find you. IT related blogs are maybe good as well, but you would have to write something interesting there. I do it this way myself. I have a github account not only to provide access for my sources and to use a free git repo, but also to show it at job applications, so people can see what I do and judge me by my source code. Another site like github, but using SVN instead of Git, is sourceforge. I don't use facebook or other social sites of this kind, because there I loose control about the stuff people might find out about me, seeing that facebook treats privacy like shit. You might have a bit control about the settings what others can see, but you don't have control about the information that is sold to other companies. This is not only information you give away publicly or in private messages or even deleted messages (they never actually delete anything), it is also your behavioural patterns, your likes, your clicks. RE: Maxx's Anti-Dox Handbook - birdman - 04-30-2014 Thansk alot for the thread, did a few reverse image searches in TinEye and they were accurate. Thanks for the anti-dox tips . In this times of identity theft you have to take care of your online information. If someone were to Google your name, find that, and read your old posts then it could benefit you (especially if you're looking to be employed). You'll also want to make a profile on LinkedIn. Not only that, but you'll want to consider making a personal website that's well-designed which is all about you, what you do, and your special skills. I'm actually VERY flattered by the thought of you thinking that it's PDF worthy. I honestly don't know a thing about making PDFs, but I'm sure I'd be able to figure it out. I think I'll do this though... Maybe I'll even extend it by making a few more chapters! Oh, and did you enjoy the read? Have any criticism worth mentioning? RE: Maxx's Anti-Dox Handbook - chmod - 04-30-2014 Making a PDF isn't that hard, in fact open office/Libre office have the ability to export word documents to pdf format. It's a fairly decent length as is but if you do add to it, it wouldn't hurt |
