I've used Fedora Red Hat 18 x64 Bit (3.6 Kernel)

Previously I was running LinuxMint 13LTS until an upstream update that Clement Lefebvre pushed prematurely which wreaked temporary chaos across the Mate Desktop for a large number of users that made the Desktop completely unusable with the needed taskbar for accessing the internals.
Not wanting to waste time patching the problem myself, for myself, I wiped my personal laptops and installed Kubuntu 12.04LTS along with something close to five thousand packages at last count.
I used to be a previous Kubuntu user in years past.
This time around I find I actually prefer it to Gnome3 and Unity considering a large number of GTK implementations work more efficiently in Kubuntu than they do in Clement Lefebvre's Mate Desktop.
The irony is most amusing to state the least.
Alas, and here we are.

I use ubuntu 12.04 for my simple everyday tasks and run Backtrack 5 r3 for more serious tasks. i still have my windows 7 as well because i dont wanna lose my alienware FX and shit Wink lol

I left Backtrack 5 R3 for ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS. I installed the packages I use on it. It's better because it has better stability. And most of the package are not up to date on backtrack

Then you'll be glad to know that Backtrack Linux has graduated to Kali in the above link where the new Repositories are updated 4 time a day, everyday.

Oh I didn't know ... I'll have to test it ...

But using ubuntu and installing the packages manually is cool because you will have only the packages needed for your usage. Honestly I didn't use 25% of the tools available in backtrack

i prefer linuxmint w/ a DE xfce..it is so f*cking fast, but lacks user friendly features.cinnamon is great and a must have distro too.

My laptop dual boots Windows8 & Backtrack. Although I have been loyal to Microsoft OS for years, I admit that some things are just impossible in Windows OS.

I use to use LinuxMint LTS versions not too long ago.
Yet after spending somewhere around 113 hours (you read that correctly) customizing, hardening, and patching the system with the varying number of PPA Repositories I'm notorious for using, an update from upstream that was premature wrecked my entire Mate and Gnome3 desktop. So rather than wasting time fixing that crap, I dumped LinuxMint all together and switched back to the second Distribution I ever used...Kubuntu Long Term Support.
At present time after over 100 hours of yet again patching, customizing, and hardening everything worth mentioning on my workstation, I'm more than satisfied.
