You drop the ink right in the center of where the fold will be, so the pattern is random, more or less, as well as symmetrical.

Romantic was a complete guess, wanting a further relationship was indicated by repeated observance of pairs doing things together, and single things being isolated/different( the alien and the animal along the lake ).
