I don't use anything. I just don't be silly and download things that look suspicious Biggrin

On Windows, I use a layered defense system starting with common sense and EMET. If anything gets past those, it's pretty hardcore already.
After EMET comes Comodo's AV and firewall products, as well as their HIPS system.
If I still manage to get pwned after that, I have DeepFreeze installed on my computer and the C: drive is frozen.
My bootloader is the TrueCrypt bootloader so I would assume I'd notice pretty quickly if anything touched my MBR to try to circumvent DF.

This is overkill for anyone. I work in a high-risk environment.

Would people actually go through all that trouble to get to you though?

In a word: Yes.

That must be flattering. Cos I just use Avast, since nobody would have any reason to go after me since I'm basically nonexistent to the majority of the internet.

What's your *nix setup? Any snort?

I've got a Sysinternals windows tool suite in case my main OS gets infected, so I can analyze my system, has a super badass task manager, task monitor[I/O, Registry], Autoruns, and then there's a RegShot to see what registry keys have been modified aswell as other shittons and shittons of tools,... other then that I also have a good anti-virus which cleans out all the old shit.

If I may need to run an untrusted executable, I also have VirtualBox with a master template entry [clean Windows 7], copy it and with disabled networking and very limited RAM, also any shared folders I may have will have to be set to Read-Only.

If anyone here REALLY wants to be secure, I suggest you read into Qubes-OS, a very powerful and secure Linux-based OS, it's security is based on Virtualization, almost all windows are run under mini-VM's, you can also run an entire OS using HVM's, it pretty much has multiple kernels, however it is a pain in the ass to get used to it.

So, here's the deal:

I'm packing up my stuff now and getting on a plane to your location.

Once I arrive I will be moving in with you.

Following that, we will be best buds forever and moar where upon I will be your grasshopper and you will be sensei

Then you will teach me the ways of the Starfall Warrior.

My *nix setup is that I run it on a MIPS device and store nothing of value on it. Good luck with any canned exploits, and lol@you for wasting your time when you do get in.
As for servers, yes there is HIPS and NIPS installed but I won't mention them by name. Also latest grsecurity kernel

Your setup seems more geared towards postmortem analysis than prevention... cool anyway.

See Avast is decent but I feel like Malwarebytes catches more of a diversity of viruses. I used to perfer AVG becaude it has great live protection but it sucks resources like a fat guy in a Twinkie factory.
