As you've most likely heard a thousand times already: "The tool doesn't make the hacker, the hacker makes the tool".
The hacking community being one of its best tools. hackers can share content to help others. Some people are sometimes asking whos the best hacker. It can only be an opinion, some hackers might be more experienced in server hacking more than others, but i think that the best hackers are the people behind new technologies. Hackers doesnt have to be bad, thry can help creating/updating things to make the result more efficient. I consider the best hackers the people behind the technology everyone uses everyday, touchscreens & smart devices are made by extremely smart people who knows a lot about science. This is probably why some technologies require special material, such as gold. Scientist are like life hackers lol

You've made some very valid points, particularly this:
Quote:Hackers doesnt have to be bad, thry can help creating/updating things to make the result more efficient

Generally speaking and for the most part, when people hear the term "hacking", they Immediately view It solely from a malicious standpoint, which Is not the case In Its entirety. Ethical hackers who're under contract, are (mostly) paid to Identify flaws In a company's system/network and exploit them thereafter- with the Intention to recommend and patch every security loophole before the bad guys get In.

This also Includes evaluating the vulnerabilities of all company personnel, that Is, social engineering. They can have the most secure firewalls, heavily-configured IDS/IPS and bulletproof their entire network but If an employee falls victim to SEing by simply handing over sensitive Information to allow access, then It defeats the purpose of their technological security measures.
i cant really say anything about SEing because i do not now how it works (even the basics lol). But true, if your employees arent safe from SE, it would be a major flaw for a business.

Bugbounties are how some hackers can live of their passions, and that is impressive aswell as difficult. Some even get a job to the software authors or just big companies like google or valve for example. i love the idea of bugbounties because it allows businesses to find talented hackers quickly, normally being the ones that have found the most bugs in a given peruod of time or even in general. This can tell a business that the person knows what they're doing and how they can help the software authors for releases of an app in the future.

Social engineering Is a "very powerful tool", and at the forefront of every major security exploitation.

I'm working hard to add content to my SEing blog, that covers everything you need to know In the art of exploiting the human firewall. It should be ready for viewing at the end of this month.

Bug Bounties are very popular amongst companies and security researchers/hackers, yet not widely-known to the general community.

Here's a huge list entailing quite a few major organizations and developers.

^Absolutely, adding to this is the feeling of learning by figuring out by yourself with the guidance of other well seasoned hackers out there, I'm thankful that in my early age, I was exposed to hacking communities.

The word "hacking" is pretty multi-faceted, and has its origin in academics. I'd say the heart of the word lies in innovation and problem solving when it comes to technology. Scientists, engineers, and even entrepreneurs can be hackers. The reason the word has a negative connotation, is because it's been attributed to fraud and other acts we'd deem immoral.

This^ is the best definition of hacker and this is what I always believe whenever I heard the term hacker.
