The input of our members matters a lot. Your vote gets a vote in deciding what happens.

Well I'll be damned lol.
I'm sure you remember when I voiced my opinion last time, it went smoothly.

#3 no hesitation i mean I don't mind the first two options, but if you were to make it point blank common sense on where to post the content they are writing, ask the questions they have etc... it might make it a lot easier for people to siphon through the ever growing section.

Cast your vote in the poll Tongue

The reason I made this suggestion came straight from a conversation with Oni about ways we can curb the "divide" or cruelty that plagues this topic. He said he'd do it if the memberbase wanted it, so this thread and a poll was made

I done voted ese
So far all three options are tied but at least we are beating the "leave shit alone" option so I am happy lol

As am I. If you look in the SE section you will see the second part of my plan to fix this issue. There is a stickied thread. You should read it, and when you reply to these posts, try to urge members to follow those principles (be nice about it)

At first, I was dismissive of it. But I do see the skill involved. However, I would very much like to see a section devoted to traditional SE: interpersonal persuasion, pretexting, elicitation, and so on. So I have voted for #3. Keep in mind I am new so perhaps my vote ought to not count.

Actually, your opinion from the perspective of a new member is very valuable. Many of us have been here a long time, and remember the way things have run in the past, which can cloud judgement. It helps to know what your first impressions are. After all, we want to know what entices people to the site, and what keeps them here (or what pushes them away).

I initially voted 3, but upon reading all thread responses I'm leaning towards 1. Might be worth noting another vote against option 1.

That's the chief reason I allowed 2 votes to be selected. These proposals are all pretty much the same. The actual root proposal is "make the distinction between retail and traditional SE", and in that sense there are only 2 options, either do it or don't. I personally voted for #1 and #2. I only threw #3 out there as an extreme option, only for the purpose of gauging to what degree members want to see change. If members only want to see a little change, or only think it to be a small problem, they're likely to vote for #2, since it involves the least change, but if they think it's a larger problem, they'd vote for #3 because it's a fundamental change to the entire debate.

Yeah, I am with you there. I was just not smart enough to select multiple votes before I submitted. Wish I could go back and edit my vote.

inb4 this leads to an "edit vote in polls" suggestion thread xD
