I was given this username by WuhTehFuh, who introduced me to the old SL (AF) skype group. There was a rule that you needed a forum account to be in the skype group. They created this account for me, and somehow the link to pokemon was made (hence the signature) and I just never changed it. Little did I know, this forum would change my life in huge ways, and a few of us who've met irl sometimes still call each other by our forum usernames face-to-face.

I suppose my story is very different from yours, I just looked around the room, saw a plug and went with it.
I later learned that a Plug is also someone who has contacts to get whatever he needs done. While I may not consider myself like that, I do like to meet new people from a variety of different places and who have different interests.

I can definitely see your point.
It's somewhat premature to say, but If I were to meet you IRL, I don't think I'd refer you by your real name. Given we're so accustomed to each other's cyber Identity, It's odd (to me anyway) to veer from that alias.

I've done that with previous forums. Its just natural that way, IMO. They are their screen names in my head. Even a guy who I talked to outside of a forum through Skype and MSN and such, we never referred to each other by real name even though it was known between us.
Its not even a habit, its just who they are in someone's head.

I can't visualize myself speaking face-to-face with a member on this board and addressing him/her by their real name.
I've completely forgotten about an ex-friend of mine (more so an acquaintance whom I haven't seen In over 10 years), used to call me mothered rather than my real name being:

I think if I was to meet someone here face to face, I would probably call them by their real name. Unless they personally prefer their alias instead. I guess it depends on how hard each is to say as well lol.
