RE: CCleaner infected with malware - Defeat - 09-21-2017 Malwarebytes picked it up for me, even though I'm on 64bit RE: CCleaner infected with malware - Imagined Self - 09-21-2017 Uninstalled... I read a few articles on this, is rather quite interesting tbh RE: CCleaner infected with malware - Luxury - 09-21-2017 I used to use CCleaner on my phone before Android added it in the latest update RE: CCleaner infected with malware - FreightTrain - 09-21-2017 I use ccleaner too much probably. I only have it clear out internet cache though. I had the affected version installed, it was quickly removed though. RE: CCleaner infected with malware - Go Johnny Go! - 09-22-2017 This is another reason to why I never use closed source software. I would never trust shady, closed-source applications such as CCleaner. RE: CCleaner infected with malware - al68 - 09-22-2017 Uninstalled too, even if it was the 64 bit version. Also, I preferred to remove Avast from my machines, not safe anymore.. RE: CCleaner infected with malware - Bish0pQ - 09-22-2017 ===Update=== Apperently it was indeed targeting bigger companies like samsung and cisco etc... to obtain sensitive information from those companies. It is worse than they thought though because it contained a second backdoor or something (I read something about it this morning, I will add sources when I can), so it's not over yet. Some sources also reported that the code was very good developed and that a lot of time/money was put into this malware. They also reported that there is a high possibilty they'll use it again. @al68, @FreightTrain, @Imagined Self Just removing the program WILL NOT remove the malware. Use something like Malwarebytes to clean out the malware. RE: CCleaner infected with malware - Synthx - 09-22-2017 Number one, I have a Mac so I dont really need to worry about needing a program like CCleaner, and Second, I just hate those programs as they most of the time are either AdWare, or just plain up as you said.. Malware. RE: CCleaner infected with malware - Skullmeat - 09-22-2017 Alot of them are shady, probably because cleaning your registry doesnt actually do anything. Its like infomercials selling you crap you dont need.
