I could be wrong, but he looks like a mixed breed. I can't pinpoint which one though.

I'd recommend rescuing a dog, whatever breed you choose. I'm a fan of terriers.

If anyone in your home has allergies then a dog breed that does not shed too much hair would be best

This Is amazing to read. My dad did just that when I was a kid (around 10yo).
He took me to the lost dog's home and I chose a Fox Terrier. The terrier lived for 14 years and died when he got hit by a car. I was bawling my eyes out and still remember that day very clearly.

It's great if you can find a rescue dog that suits your preferences. Border Collies are great fun. High energy though - heaps of exercise required. They'll keep you fit

Indeed, every breed is good in its own way. Each owner chooses a pet for himself, according to his preferences, but it is a fact that all dog lovers love absolutely equal all the dogs. We have 2 bulldogs and they are very active. Honestly, it was very difficult to train and learn them to be obedient. They always tried to run away from our yard, even if they saw another dog. I worried a lot because it is very dangerous for them if they can accidentally run out onto the road while playing. So, we resolved the problem with the help of invisible pet fences. It doesn't hurt them, but they understood very fast the boundaries that they must not violate.
