I like Chevy, but I did have a relative with a Tundra and it worked great.
I was going to overall suggest that he get the Tundra. Even though the Chevy Silveraydo kicks ass (Amiri King)
Oh god.... stay clear of everything Chevy (at least for consumer vehicles).. and Toyota trucks can be good, but as a mechanic I've seen them go bad more than good.

The Tundra is probably going to do better on reliability, although Chevy is pretty good these days! I would just compare pricing, fuel economy, safety ratings and reliability reports. See which one comes out better on paper. I will admit the Tundra is a pretty nice car too ,though.

50-60 years time? I doubt the car will still be going, and I hope he is still alive by then, since he'd be in his retirement age lol!

And yeah, good point to add those.
My main point was to check out the facts and figures for these cars before choosing one xD

Yeah, a "first car" in the US could be anything from a Shitty Dodge Neon to a 90s Toyota Camry. Even the rich kids' first cars are average most of the time, like a Pontiac G6 or some shit.
My aunt's first car was a 1995 Chevy Cavalier for example. Now she drives a 2011 Toyota RAV4.
