That's sort of the purpose of making a myBB theme, is to make a new design for everything you just listed.
Do you design anything?

Yeah i've made some themes for MyBB, an example (a bad one) : http://www.elegantdesigning.com/emerald/
Began it last summer but i didn't have much time to continue. It was more beautiful, i left it when i was editing, the background wasn't white and the fonts of the header links were not like that, it's poor now xD

Text is not very readable, it's too dark. But nevertheless I like the design.

"Modern" is exactly what it isn't supposed to be. It is supposed to be simple and elegant. I went pretty well over that in another post here on this thread. I hate modern designs with all my heart. I am a beginner thinking about MyBB themes but far from being one considering themes, CSS, templates and things a like in general.

As this image shows, the text is a lot more readable after I changed the font color to #CCC;
