In my opinion the best way would be to download the .iso file from their website and make a bootable USB (there ar emany programs to do that). Just create a partition on your HHD that suits you needs and you should be fine.

Why is Linux better than Windows? Ok Lemme just mock up some points from my experience

1) The first and the most viable reason of Linux being better than Windows is it's totally "OPEN SOURCE", while Windows costs you dollar. With Linux you can edit it's code anytime you want and do your own stuff with it while windows does not allow that. Windows doesn't want it's users to get it's hands on their fucked up already windows code while Linux wants it's users to improve the OS themselves, give new ideas etc. You should understand my point so first is being Open Source.

2) Fixing problem is even more easier in Linux than Windows, In windows if your system is damned by a friggin virus you will either have to Re Format your system or you'll have to do some nasty procedure to bring yer system back to the original state while in Linux this is just easy as it sounds, You put that linux distro in yer usb and then run a couple of commands and you are back, Don't believe me? Here's a sample http://www.maketecheasier.com/check-repair-filesystem-fsck-linux/

Windows files get corrupt and make your life hell, In linux you just have to run a couple of commands to do that... SO 2nd for me would be Easy Administration and Repair

3) Now 3rd one is Flavors, What windows lacks is flavors, of course there is that Ultimate, Professional shit but it ain't a real deal whereas in Linux you have different flavors or as we call it Distro's that you can choose for your needs. Being in a Hacking Community I would give you the perfect example of Kali Linux which is infact a Hacking Flavored version of Linux. In windows you can't get to choose such awesome stuff.

4) Built in free softwares and lots of em, this is one of the major reason why Linux is prefered, Linux software market is free, there are many windows alternatives for Linux like Gimp for PS, LibreOffice for MS Office and they are pretty much growing up in the market. Also each distro of linux if offered with a dvd image which contains optional softwares for users who do not wish to download em manually, This is shit in Windows, you get shitty upgrades making yer system slow and no free software.

5) Hardware compatibility, another awesome feature of Linux is it nearly runs on almost all hardware either it's a tablet, PC or even a damn Mobile. Imagine the power of linux in the palm of yer hand, as I gave an example in my Portability thread that you can run KALI LINUX on a Smart android phone :epic: how cool is that? Now I know you might think that "Hey! Windows is on mobile platform too" but the answer is "IT IS JUST SHTIT!" It doesn't have free apps, it sucks where as in Linux you have all the free software you need.

6) Linux uses relatively less resources than Windows, It consumes less memory not to forget it can be customized to your needs, that is why Linux is highly used in Servers, I don't need to say much about this cu all of the above point come in it again. You can even search Google and you'll find that majority system administrators recommend Linux to be run on servers.

7) Security, Yes! No antivirus needed, Linux has a different system architecture than windows hence windows programs don't work on linux, you'll need a program like Wine to emulate windows resources and run a program and it's limited but the best thing is no need to care about damn Viruses, Surely it isn't 100% secure, nothing is! but it gives the user a calm mind.

My point is don't roll over to Linux just for hacking, make it your habit, learn and and begin using it as yer original os
