If someone is rejecting you because of the gender it could be because they probably have night shifts and they don't wanna risk the safety of women. Or maybe the current male employees get distracted seeing female co workers. My previous company I was applying at had such shifts and they did not allow women for the very reason "safety".

Either way join a company that accepts you for your talent/skills and not your gender. Oh and there have been companies that only wanted female employees, so I think it really depends.

Oh wow I was not even thinking about this! This could be a very good reason!
Thank you for that Smile

Did they actually tell you that they didn't select you because of your gender? If not then maybe you might have understood that situation in the wrong way.

Thats why I said that they told me that they are searching for a man. But in their advert was nothing written about it.
They didnt say exactly : We dont want you because of your gender.

But I think it was because they think that I was too young for it.
So hopefully I will stay in my field for a very long time and when I apply for jobs next time, I will be more convenient for them Smile

I wanted to know someone else's opinion Smile

Sorry about that. I didn't read your post in which you already said that.

Although being an IT technitian in a company is traditionally a man's job. If your interviewer was an old man or a traditional person, then I can see why he rejected you. Some people just want to preserve the status quoe.

Well, I'm still in High School ATM. Though I'd like to work as a Software Engineer in the near future. That's what I'm pursuing right now.

Wait, so you're still in High School and your working as IT at a company at the same time? In that case you must be over 18 right? I'm impressed :epic:
Well, I'm not over 18 yet, so I can't really apply for jobs yet. Though I'm gonna start applying when I finish my Masters Degree in Software Engineering in the coming years. Till then, I'll have to stick to Affiliate Marketing and PPD for now.

RE: IT Girl - bad or good? - katka18 - 07-10-2014

Yeah I am 18. I ended my school year in May. So now I can work. But in October I will have to finish my final year on high school.
I have to work now because for me school is not enough. I dont think they will tell me everything I need Smile
I dont want to waste my time for nothing .. Smile

Actually the more surprising thing is when you mentioned that some people are bothered with gender ?
It is those who shall not be employed, not the other way around.

Everyone who possess's the needed knowledge is of worth to the company that seeks for such.
God, I really dont like discrimination..
