RE: What do you like and dislike about Hack Community? - The Real Slim Shady - 07-15-2013

well, i for the most part like the community... and there are lofty goals in place to make this a professional/unique site.

but i dont think much is being done to target those goals. I am mainly referring to a. recycled content that is old and useless, or posted on 10 billion other sites. and b. as deque mentioned... too much information about trojans and ratting and just other generally unskilled content that people who are unskilled (script kiddies) come searching for. These threads generally get a lot of praise where as more original content, that a lot more people would have difficulty understanding, are largely ignored?

The irony being that there is no thanks button any more?

At last, an individual spotted the irony of the very comment that lead to more replies that the previous thread.Biggrin
Hint...hint @The Alchemist

That would depend on what Members left, and what the precise reasoning of their departure revolves around: The Blame It On Another Individual Game or the more legitimate reason revolving around Skids and Leechers.
In either case, and despite my previously ill chosen resignation formerly, I would advise in the matter of patience and perseverance versus simply giving up and departing.
You learn alot about the true human nature and character of any given individual when the circumstances grow hard which in turn requires wisdom and forethought to persevere.

P.S.-Truth be told, I too would like to see the Thank You button returned.
And to the best of my knowledge, only Bluedog and 1llusion are capable of removing the Thank You button.

My two cents on the matter at hand.
1, don't add the thanks button again, I mean look at how many posts there are now compared to before.
2, make reputation a system similar to the thanks button but only allowed to do so once on a person.
Add more security questions that you have to google for the answers.
Then purge the skid posts out, make another welcoming email that lists off good tutorials, and also go ahead and mass send that.
Also make sure it highlights no shit about facebook.

Truth be told, the Thank You button equally serves positive and negative functions.
The biggest point would be to decide what the advantages are in comparison to the negatives and then decide once and for all the merits of which benefits the Community the most.
Having it, or not having it.

@ThanosAres Is more posts really what we want? Trying to be a higher quality forum, not higher quantity? There's been a lot of "thnx fer duh tutoryuhll" type posts lately, pointless and could be avoided (to a certain extent) by having the Thanks button.

Equally so however, Spam is still Spam and will most assuredly be dealt with on that very merit considering it doesn't take too much effort for any given individual to leave a sentence consisting of descriptive words to describe why they find a thread to be valuable versus the One Hit Wonders that do naught but spew Spam.
