For cracking WPA/WPA2 reaver is the best method but it takes a lot of time.I would recommend using a good bruteforcer since WPA/WPA2 use the IEEE 802.11.There is a very good bruteforcer in Ubuntu which can crack WPA2 and it takes less time than Reaver.I am going to make a tutorial on it ASAP

Brute forcing can also be slow depending on the complexity of the password, also its not guaranteed. Reaver brute forces the WPS pin which is a lot easier to crack AND if the router is is vulnerable to the attack will retrieve the password more than can be said for a brute force or dictionary attack

Yes it will crack the password eventually, but depending on the password length and complexity your great grandkids might not even be around to see the results
