Well, Ive been using Xubuntu as my primary OS since 2007. Honestly i dont remember exactly what made me choose Ubuntu in particular, but i do know i chose Xubuntu specifically because i hated Gnome/KDE and wanted a lighter windowing system.
Not sure if there is a better distro for me out there right now. But Xubuntu is stable, works without much fuss, and does everything i need. So meh. No reason to start looking elsewhere for an operating system now.

Could you give a brief description on the following interfaces:
KDE-
Fluxbox-
XFCE-
-Gnome
Positive and negative points of each of the interfaces?
I have some abilities in managing networks and servers sql ..
but only knew gnome / kde and not much about their strengths and weaknesses in the network.
can you help?

I didn't specify, so it is up to you. That's why I wanted the reasons as well: What do you use and why. I think it is useless if someone just says "I use Ubuntu" without saying why. That doesn't give me any insight.
Maybe I should try Backtrack some time, but only in VM.

It's all up to you. You should choose the interface you like the most. If you find Gnome attracting choose that, it you like KDE better choose that. It's all up to you because you cant say that one interface layout if better than another.

I myself have Arch and Windows 7 in dual boot.
Ubuntu is on my laptop.
Reasons: I first started using Arch because I wanted to be forced to learn more. Arch is pretty good with this, because you have to configure everything on you own. That is also the reason I keep it, it is now perfectly adjusted to my needs. I use Arch with xmonad (a tiling window manager written in Haskel).
Ubuntu is on my laptop because I rarely use it. Updating a rarely used Arch system is just a pain. I need something reliable here that I don't have to maintain that much and that just works for doing presentations and stuff.
Right now I currently have windows 7.
However once my warranty is up (it voids the warranty to format and what not) I'm going to dual boot windows 7 and a linux distro.
