RE: OS X vs. Windows 8 - BunnyJ - 12-01-2014

:hmm:.. I think that Win8 did suck when it first came out. Very little information from MS on how it works or really good tutorials from them. I had the WTF moment when I started testing the beta in VM. After about 2 hours doing Google searches I became familiar with it and it was easy to use, for me at least.

8.1 and 8.1.1 are major improvements over 8.0. I really enjoy using 8.1.1 and to date it's my favorite OS. OS x is nice but I don't want to plunk down that amount of cash for an Apple product so I don't use it. Now with Win10 coming out I think that might be better than 8.1.1 with a tweak or two to the registry.

Right now I dual boot Win8.1.1 and Win10TP 9879.

I really don't even dislike windows 8. I agree that I'd rather be on fedora, since it feels finished and unique, but games are a big plus for windows (IMO)

I guess we'll see what windows 9 has to bring to us (I saw an article somewhere that said it'll be free for win8 users

Sell me it. LOL

I'd rather use OS X than Windows 8, Or go straight to windows 7.

But Yosemite sucks so much I'd rather use Windows 8.1, so I switched to Mavericks

Windows 8 can be fixed. If you're complaining about the start button download Classic Shell. If you're complaining about speed and such, well your computer must be utter shit.

As much as I hate Windows 8, I'd still choose it over OS X. At least you can customize it, and make it look like Windows 7. And gaming, of course.

In my opinion Windows 8.1 is actually pretty good, I've been using it for around 9 months now and I think it's pretty good. The only problem I've seemed to have is it blue screening because of an audio interface I use but that's only happened like 5 times total probably.

I use both. They both have their own pros and cons.

Although this Is an old thread, It's recent activity has enticed me to post my thoughts.

When utilized via "Windows Explorer", Windows 8 Is much of a muchness to Windows 7. It runs two different computing environments, being Windows Explorer and the Metro UI, with the latter being somewhat of a confusion to a lot of end-users.
On topic pertaining to Windows or the OS X platform, more so for compatibility reasons, It's definitely Windows 8 for me.

I dislike a lot of things about Windows 8, but there are definitely many more things that I dislike about OS X. Tongue

It might be controversial but I think OSX is pretty good for some things. For graphics design and music I really like it. I mainly use Windows 8 at the minute but I have a mac too that I use occasionally.
