Medicine = big words. Any form of psychology at University Level = Maths/theories/names/dates. Fancy. I miss doing psychology a lot. I didn't do that particular type though xD Not that I know what it is :') RE: Proudest Achievement - Cressi - 07-03-2014 (07-03-2014, 06:12 PM)Jiggly Wrote: What does it involve? Yeah, but I don't really care too much about the big game studios, there are only a few that interest me and none of them are very big, I'd be more interested in starting my own indie game studio and hopefully being successful enough that it would grow and eventually become a decent sized studio churning out quality games. I know it can be hard to break into the games industry, but also in the UK there are some great Uni's that offer amazing courses with incredible employment rates. This seems to be one of the best Uni's around for Game Development courses, if I did 3 years CompSci and then a year Postgratudate Here - I'd have a pretty good chance, in their careers section on that page it states that all of the graduates from the 2012/2013 MSc in Computer Games & Entertainment are now working at UK game companies, so it's a pretty high chance there. The issue with US Uni's, is that I'm coming from a background without a lot of cash and it's my understanding you have to pay instantly there, but here in the UK, I'd get a student loan and I wouldn't have to start paying it off until I was earning a certain amount a year + because I'm on low income I can then have a good chance at getting some extra loan and grants for living costs that I also wouldn't have to pay off until after + there's still some very good Uni's in the UK, though they can be incredibly hard to get into some of the top ones. For Game Development, Goldsmiths seems to be the best, and then for CompSci there are tons of Uni's with a very high rating, Bristol University being a notable one, with a ton of good ones in London (though those are generally harder to get into because of a lot of applicants). Lemme know if you want any help. I was going to do English Language, and yeah I used bitesize a little but I asked about it on a UK Education forum (not sure if considered advertising to name so yah) and everyone started saying that it was awful and wouldn't be any good so to stop using it, then again they said the same about CGP Books which is what I've always used, and when I asked about them again not long later most people said that was bullshit and that they're some of the best books around, so that was interesting lol. I should probably start using bitesize again now that I remember it, thanks. Never heard of sparknotes before, will check it out later on. ![]() And yeah, it's definitely one of the advantages of being British that I can do my GCSE's and A Levels at any age, I already thought if because I don't get any books until late in the year again and I'm not prepared enough to do my GCSE exams next year, then I can just wait until the year after to make sure I can get a good grade.

Bearing in mind you won't get the same financial aid that you'll get in the UK. However, to get into a UK University of the standard that you need - well it's going to be a lot harder to find one and get in. The US does have great opportunities when it comes to their Universities. I also know that some of their courses offer an entire year in a workplace. Work Experience woo! xD If you do come to picking a University - Just spend time really going into detail about the pros and cons. Also, remember, you can sometimes transfer if it's not what you want. Or you could go to Scotland, it's cheaper there... Or even completely foreign countries like Germany, or one of the nordic states (Sweden, Finland, Norway is WAY too expensive) - Universities are practically free there. In Finland they only charge you for books, and such, not the actual teaching (as far as I know) - a semester costs something like 1000Euros total with books and materials and whatnot. @Uzinero? I was under the impression they had the right to charge up to 9000 pounds... Like England and Wales. Ignore them, Bitesize is actually very good. It's just one of those easy to read layouts. They have all of the information you need with some exception for the strictly highest level stuff in some instances. 9 times out of 10 you can get everything you need. They usually lay things out according to the level anyway. I used to use it as part of my revision and well, it worked for me. If bitesize doesn't work for you then that's down to individual preferences I guess. Everyone likes to learn in their own way. |
