Isn't that pretty much what @DarkMuse mentioned in his thread starter? I'd also substitute "like button" for a "thanking system", which is basically the same except the name, but that's a personal preference.

I support this idea. Although, I'd be interested to see why a similar suggestion was denied in the past.
It won't increase LQ posts. It replaces them. People can look through the sub-forums and immediately see something that is HQ with this feature. It may also drive people to create HQ threads in order to gain these likes on their thread. It should promote HQ threads.
Also, we need to remember, there are Mods and Admin on this forum. If it turns into some popularity vote, it can simply be removed. If people are abusing it, warnings can be given out and these threads can be closed.
Oh and the idea of SP rewards for it... That's just providing an incentive for quality. Win-win.
