There's nothing wrong with trusting what you believe is safe. However, you shouldn't push on the idea that what you think is safe, will be for others. On the offhand, why do you refuse to accept the words stated on the site that literally says WARNING: Using TrueCrypt is not secure as it may contain unfixed security issue? Yes, it may have been working for years, but all things become unstable and break over time. Okay, a poject that is in v7.1a < 7 Versions... You think bitlocker is AS or MORE secure than truecrypt? I strongly disagree. I didn't want to go down the whole trying to make a story up route, but an example of what happend could be... One of the guys working on truecrypt, got a new job that didnt allow him to work on it any longer. Truecrypt is undergoing an audit anyway as we speak, so when the results are out, youll realise i was right after all. Think about how much publicity/scrutiny truecrypt has had. No major security vulns have been pointed out till now, and your not even the least bit sceptical. Everyones entitled to their own opinions but i think i have a very strong argument here. Also, you say over time the code has "broken" over time... what the hell is that lol. Nobody said bitlocker was/is more secure/better. Their code may not be faulted, but their servers, websites, or whatever handles data for everyone may have been compromised. RE: {+} The Software Swiss Army Knife {+} A consise list of essential software YOU need! - MiS - 06-11-2014 Let's be clear on this: you don't have a strong argument, you have a strong opinion. A powerful belief in that what you think is true and you won't be swayed with opinions from any other. That's not necessarily right or wrong, it's just who you are. That said, please don't put words in my mouth, as I never specifically said, and I quote: (06-11-2014, 09:16 AM)SIze Wrote: Also, you say over time the code has "broken" over time... what the hell is that lol. However, you're right, not all things may break over time, but most do. Okay, well i use version 7.1a not 7.2 and i dont suggest anyone uses 7.2 at all. (06-11-2014, 09:24 AM)MiS Wrote: Let's be clear on this: you don't have a strong argument, you have a strong opinion. You didnt specifically say it, but it was pretty close. Here is a link to the truecrypt audit: https://opencryptoaudit.org/reports/iSec_Final_Open_Crypto_Audit_Project_TrueCrypt_Security_Assessment.pdf What other encyption software has an audit lol. There are potentially some flaws, and the guys who are auditing are a little overly critical of truecrypts code, but nevertheless, only found some low/medium threats. With this, you know where the vulns are and how to protect yourself against them. Some of which the creators of truecrypt tell (told) you how to mitigate on their site. Anyways got an appointment ill be back later. However, it has unfixed issues with security, which makes it vulnerable @Size. However, surely it is better than nothing. RE: {+} The Software Swiss Army Knife {+} A consise list of essential software YOU need! - Cressi - 06-11-2014 Awesome compilation ^^ May I suggest and addition? An MD5 checker like SendTo MD5 is always useful (Link) ^^ RE: {+} The Software Swiss Army Knife {+} A consise list of essential software YOU need! - Size - 06-11-2014 (06-11-2014, 10:39 AM)Cressi Wrote: Awesome compilation ^^ May I suggest and addition?
