Agreed, camtasia is what I use as well. It's easy and doesn't lag the shit out of your computer while recording. Perhaps programming lessons, website security tutorials, and other things that are alike. I used to use Camtasia, but then moved to OBS (which is free and also on Linux) and never looked back. Seriously, the software is so versatile and customizable. Some people prefer shadowplay since it uses nvidia hardware to record, thus mitigating lag, but you can just select the nvenc codec to record in OBS, and it will serve the same function. RE: Whats the best desktop recording software to use? - DareEviler - 08-11-2018 I use OpenBroadcaster. It's pretty straight forward for basic use. There are also advance features for the more serious/professional user. I primarily use it to record quick 'how to' videos. RE: Whats the best desktop recording software to use? - skrtja - 08-11-2018 I like using Dxtory and Camtasia as both don't use up your hardware resources with a custom codec, Lagarith. This codec makes files smaller and the video record with less lag, I highly recommend.
