In fact a lot of pedophiles seek treatment, because they know their preference isn't right and want to be normal. We can't assume they are all monsters because of their "mental illness". I use that loosely because I'm not positive if it's considered a mental illness.

It is a sexual preference by definition. Again, you're confusing a child molester with a pedophile. Whether or not child molesters should be accepted into society would be a whole other discussion. Which would probably include rapists in general.
