Live in an area with a population of a city in the area of a small state, rate of infection pretty low. Just recently began requiring masks when going out. Thankful it hasn't been nearly as bad as many other places.

This was precisely what our government was fearing, but thankfully the number of reported cases have In fact declined over a number of weeks.

You're almost right. What they actually found, is a new strain of the existing virus (this is very common, even the flu or colds mutate like this). This new strain isn't any more lethal or dangerous, but what it does do, is spread more quickly and easily. It's a more infectious strain, but not more lethal, if that makes sense?

We (the UK) are currently working hard to contain the new strain.

There's a new virus strain that's just hit one particular state In my country, which I believe Is similar to what you've mentioned above.

As a result, the government has closed every border In the country- as recent as a few hours ago. I do hope we don't experience the same with the COVID-19 situation In 2021.

I wonder when things will calm down. Many people stated it would die down by the end of Summer, but in reality things could go past mid-2021. Would love to visit the UK again one day.

I think this thing will continue for years. One of the best opportunities for govnt to control its population.

Oh that's interesting! I wonder if they're the same strain or two that developed independently of each other?

I suspect this will all be depending on how quickly further vaccines are approved, produced and distributed. I hope we'll be in a very different position come mid-2021. Though, I'm a little surprised you'd want to visit the UK again xD I could recommend some very lush places lol!
