RE: Why do you believe in "God" or a god/goddess? - Four - 05-13-2013 So I'm getting the idea of why people began to believe in God, but can nobody answer my question about the devil? Why do you worship God over somebody like him? Sorry, I didn't see that part! As a former LaVeyan Satanist, I can tell you that Satanists don't worship the devil. Satan/devil is not a him or a god. To them, it's an archetype, a set of beliefs. All Satan really means is 'Setan' which literally means 'the opposer'. There is no devil worship and true Satanists (excluding the extremists and theistic ones) don't believe in the existence of a deity. It wasn't too much aimed for somebody who was a satanist, but this is at least a learning opportunity. What do you worship then? Are you just Anti-god or what? No, there is no worship in Satanism. Satanists see themselves as gods and believe in pursuing self godhood through achieving excellence. There's a few "Satanists" in my school who run around bearing all these strange symbols and such. Thanks for informing me! What do you worship then? Are you just Anti-god or what? Yeah, it's actually completely different to how it's portrayed in the media. Which is a shame really. It's a beautiful theology if you can accept the imagery. You'd be considered athiestic as you don't believe in a deity, but there is some theistic ones who do. Atheistic or LaVeyan (followers of Anton LaVey's Church of Satan) are the only 'true' Satanists (as far as we're concerned anyway). The theists believe in demons and very few of them believe in Satan as a god (typically a very minute branch). Most of them still see 'Satan' as an archetype moreso than an entity. RE: Why do you believe in "God" or a god/goddess? - MonkeyDluffy - 05-29-2013 I believe in a god because how was the earth built in the first place? Obviously by a god That was obviously biased. Look at all the theories that can at least be backed up by some facts. Our world was most likely created by something along the lines of the Big Bang Theory. Think about it this way, how could a god exist if there was nothing that existed before that god? A god didn't create the universe. Something was here before it. |
