Haha, yeah that's true. I definately think its worth it. Cheap laptops can be good too, but yeah 'you get what you pay for; they dont last aslong, you cant use them for bruteforce or disctionary attacks etc.

Right now I have my Alienware R3 laptop that I use for hacking and damn right, it can bruteforce.

If I would recommend a budget laptop tho, I would recommend Dell Inspiron. Both are from the same brand, but inspiron is the down-graded version.

Yes, I only use cheap laptops for lightweight testing purposes and even then, they struggle to perform.

I actually had a Dell Inspiron, namely the 510M, back In 2004. From what I remember, It was quite stable and responsive. The Alienware Is a very appealing and powerful unit and If any of my lappies die, that's what I'll be purchasing.

The pre-Dell ones seemed to be the most durable, with the least problems. I've owned 2-3 Alienwares in the past and I'd avoid them entirely if you can. The laptops @Jiggly has mentioned all had their own set of issues and the M18x actually had its motherboard replaced twice. I've had even worse experiences with Razr laptops. I'd instead recommend Lenovo, Asus, or Acer.

With the exception of one laptop, every Acer I've owned over a couple of decades has remained functional In Its entirety.

I just have to say this.

I dont think alienware are bad at all. I have my alienware and it has a soft surface and works perfectly. The buttons are nice to touch and the computer runs smoothly with Linux installed on it. It doesnt have any compitability issues at all and works well with everything. Alienware are popular computers among hackers too. Acer PC's in my opinion usually tend to not have that great durability, if that's what youre looking for. Also, AW computers can have things like Intel i9 processors because they are so powerful, not all can have that.

I think that's one of the hard parts of choosing... Personal experience has a lot of influence over how you feel about a product. I'm glad your AWs panned out well. How long have you been using your AW for?

In all honesty, I don't think i9s existed when the AWs I used came out (my laptop was from about 2012/2013, i9s came out in 2017 lol!). So in my post, I am talking about laptops that were 5-10 years old. I imagine using them in the first 3 years is golden.

Similarly aged Lenovos that I've used, survived much better xD
