Didn't he do this a couple years ago, and we found out he was just on vacation and it wasn't made public knowledge?

No worries! It's not your fault on this occasion. Someone else gravedug this post, then a bunch of people started responding. That's perfectly ok, and is one of the reasons we don't automatically close old threads. Sometimes a conversation is sparked again.

reminds me of back in the day when a lot of forums would get stuck in loops of "don't necropost" vs "this is a repost"

Thankfully, we've had pretty healthy activity, and we try to be pretty understanding when threads are revived. Plus, some stuff just needs to be reposted: For example, desktop threads, or music preferences etc. These can go outdated pretty quickly, especially as the type of people that are on the board shifts over time. You may see a "blah blah blah thread - V2" in our lounge etc xD
