I challenged my girl to figure out the Linux terminal just for shits and giggles one day, and she, having earned her CompSci degree THAT long ago, managed to remember 'dir' to display the current file tree. I was a proud, proud man that day. Especially because she hates computers after getting that degree, so remembering one DOS command was heart warming. It's hard to forget the DIR command. "CD" was also commonly used. I loved the days of the CLI. I still have my Compaq Presario 2876 In mint condition and much to my surprise, the battery life Is around 45 minutes. As you can see In the Image below, even the "Warning sticker" Is still Intact and undamaged. Spoiler:![]() Spoiler:![]() On-topic, If only schooling/resources In the IT sector was available as It Is nowadays, I'd have a career In that capacity. I haven't attended one minute of school In computing, nor have any certifications to my name. Self-taught Is rewarding, but can be difficult at times. I'm basically my own teacher. RE: How did school go with you? - porroo - 04-24-2019 Not good when i was younger. But lsat school where i drove truck licenses and etc went good. RE: How did school go with you? - q0xd - 05-15-2019 Got bullied like every day grades 1-6
RE: How did school go with you? - Jiggly - 05-15-2019 I remember thinking school was very stressful but good overall. I was bullied until about 13 years of age, then I transferred to a school where you had to take an entrance exam to get in. All the kids there were kids who wanted to learn. The only "issues" I had were ones bred from being a overly emotional teenager. Looking back, I didn't realise how good I had it. All in all, school was ok. Some good stuff, some bad. In terms of impact on my life, it certainly wasn't the grades or certs that made a difference. My BA, MEd and work experience will be what impacts my career. My advice: Work hard now - So you don't have to work twice as hard later. RE: How did school go with you? - Magnetron - 05-15-2019 I dropped out, it was going nowhere for me. It's all a big indoctrination camp designed to benefit one gender while drugging the other one into submission. It was an extremely toxic environment. I'm not advocating for people to drop out of school, but I personally have no regrets. Fuck Western academia and their soyboy acolytes. I think that a lot of people think like you do, but they just too passive and shy to say their thoughts out loud. |
