I use AZ Screen Recorder for Android. Just start recording, go on Snapchat and open the story, then view back the recording and screenshot the part you need. This obviously works with normal snaps sent to you as well.

Load the snap if it's not already. You can tell if it says "Tap to view" instead of "Tap to load". Next, turn on airplane mode. Open the snap and screen shot it. Don't turn off airplane mode yet. Clear your device cache. On iPhone, you can do this by clicking the home button twice, then holding down the power button until you see the "Slide to power down" screen, then holding the home button down. Close snapchat. Turn airplane mode off and open snapchat.

On Android there are applications like SaveStory that allow you to take screenshots without using Android's default screenshot function (and I'm sure there are ones for iOS too), which is much easier than disabling networking, and still doesn't notify Snapchat that you took a screenshot.
That's what I do anyway. Convenient, easy, and does the job.

Try downloading Snapchat Phantom and edit the settings on that but be careful it could get your snapchat temporarily or permanently banned.

I always record my screen and then take a screenshot of the clip, but if you have an android you can download an app called "private screenshotter" and it works just fine
