Same for me. I don't usually get to know a lot of people. Especially since I don't do much else than going somewhere with my GF and being on the PC. From now and then I meet some new people though, most of the time just by going places/events.

This is usually one of the most common ways until you change schools/work.
Ask them to hang out and tell them to bring friends! Open invitations are sometimes the easiest way to go.
