At first, they are easy and nice... Then you start running into problems... Then you try to fix them... Then you upgrade a version... Then you can't boot.  Sad

You never got that far, so you wouldn't know  Wink

@Ecks OpenSUSE is probably easier than (maybe equal to) Debian.

Oh yeah...its been years since I've used Ubuntu but thats exactly the reason I stopped using it, and essentially stopped using Linux. Granted it is a good way to get into Linux, bad place to stay.

The issue is that it could end up scaring potential users away.

Example: You Wink

Well it didn't really scare me away, I just got frustrated and decided to re-install Windows. But then again I've done that several times, just being frustrated with various things.

The problem is I don't know anything about Linux. And good Linux OS's to start off with? I need one for a complete beginner like me.

Just about everyone here has given advice based on their experience. Another matter you must consider is the machine you will be installing a Linux OS on. Research your machine and you will get a general idea where to start. Most of everyone starts out on Ubuntu or a Debian based distribution, nothing wrong with that. "Linux" is very robust and forgivable, it can however be a pain in the ass to configure at first. I struggled my first year of using Linux and prevailed solely because of determination. The Linux community is by far the most evolved/helpful and there are plenty of users to hold your hand during your transition. After you spend a good amount of time in the Linux environment you will most likely never look back. My advice on a good distribution to start with would be Manjaro with the Xfce desktop environment. Manjaro has worked flawlessly with every computer I've ever installed it on. It is very user friendly and great with GPU drivers and older hardware in general. Steam comes installed by default on Manjaro if you happen to be a gamer. The best thing about Linux is there are so many variants for all types of users. I wish you well in your journey and I'm here to help when you run into issues. Don't be afraid to ask any questions, it's the only way you will learn.

Kubuntu is not Kali, Kali is not Ubuntu based, it is Debian based. Kubuntu is an Official Ubuntu flavor using KDE which is very similar to Windows.
