You become legend by being a legend for the SL community. It was like above people explained, but I certainly agree that @mothered deserves the legendary rank. He has been around for quite a long time and definitly deserves the legend userbar.

I remember seeing him with an Elite or Super Elite badge back in 2012 or 2013. Are you sure he never bought it with NSP?

He doesn't have the award for Elite or Super Elite. Something may have gone wrong, though.

Well us old people who were around waaaaaay back in sinister.lys early days (anarchy is still better imo @oni) got it for buying upgrades when there were only two to choose from (technically it was who ever upgraded with in the first year of site being open I believe)
